Alexander Linsbichler and Martin Gundinger

The Hayek Institut teams up with IES Vienna for the first time to commemorate the centenary of the publication of Ludwig von Mises’ Gemeinwirtschaft and introduce this seminal work to Business and Economics students from all over the US spending a semester studying in Vienna. Following opening words from Scott B. Nelson (AEC/HI) and Wolfgang Moelzer (Business and Economics Department Coordinator at IES), Professor Alexander Linsbichler (Uni Wien) and Martin Gundinger (AEC/HI) will discuss socialism and the economic and moral case for capitalism, to be followed by student breakout sessions discussing the role of government and the pressing political-economic issues of today.

The lecture part of this seminar will also take place in German on November 30th, at the Hayek Institut.

Alexander Linsbichler is a lecturer in philosophy and economics at the University of Vienna.

Martin Gundinger joined the Hayek Institute in 2016 and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Austrian Economics Center. He is an economist with diverse interests in many other fields, including philosophy, psychology, medicine, and IT. He strongly believes in the ability of individuals to improve their own lives and the lives of others, and is passionate about cutting-edge technology that enables people to take back control of their lives. He also conducts research in the area of taxation and tax policy, and in this capacity has twice been invited as an expert to speak at a parliamentary hearing in Austria.
